A 46-year-old convicted sex offender wanted by the state on a warrant for parole violation was arrested here last Thursday morning, according to information from Lamesa Police Chief Dale E. Alwan Jr.
While cases of the COV1D-19 coronavirus are now popping up around the South Plains and Permian Basin, no cases have yet been confirmed in Dawson County.
The Lamesa school district has extended spring break for students through March 27 and will then implement distant learning that will keep students out of the classrooms through at least April 10.
Beginning sometime this week, the Lamesa school district will begin a meal service to ensure local children get enough to eat while school cafeterias are closed due to the COV1D-19 coronavirus.

While continuing to closely control access to both the hospital and clinic, Dawson County Hospital District officials are emphasizing they are fully available to see anyone needing care.
Both local supermarkets and the Dollar General stores here have established special shopping times specifically for senior citizens.
