Applications are currently being accepted from area students for two $2,000 Bob Craig Memorial Scholarships awarded through the West Texas Press Association and the Texas Press Association.

Although there was no action for the commissioners court to take on the matter, the first part of Tuesday’s meeting of the Dawson County Commissioners Court was dominated by discussion of a possible disaster declaration for the county due to the COVID-19 situation.
The new budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year beginning April 1 will be among the items considered Thursday by directors of the Dawson County Hospital District.
Lamesa’s lone movie theater has been shut down by the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
