Beginning sometime this week, the Lamesa school district will begin a meal service to ensure local children get enough to eat while school cafeterias are closed due to the COV1D-19 coronavirus.
During Thursday’s emergency school board meeting, administrators said details of the program will be announced as soon as they have been finalized.
They are hoping to begin feeding children by about mid-week.
Liz Poage, the school’s chief financial officer, said plans call for the program to be implemented at Middle School, North Elementary and South Elementary.
