An article in Wednesday’s issue of the Lamesa Press-Reporter about the Lamesa Boys and Girls Club celebrating its 60th birthday with a cake and open house contained an error about the date of the celebration.
Several financial items are on the agenda for the regular meeting of the Dawson school board set for 7 p.m. Monday in board room at the school in Welch.
Until the COVID-19 outbreak last year, Lamesa High School had an open campus policy which allowed students to leave school grounds to eat lunch elsewhere if they desired.
Like other governmental entities, Lamesa school officials are waiting for certified property values to be released by the appraisal district on July 25 before finalizing their 2021-2022 budget.
The Klondike High School FFA Greenhand Chapter Conducting team, which won the state title last year, was given the opportunity to perform the Official FFA Opening Ceremonies in front of nearly 400 people at the Texas FFA Foundation’s Passion for Excellence Breakfast which honored donors during the Texas FFA Convention held earlier this month in Fort Worth. The team, which will compete at the national level later this year, also was recognized on stage during the convention. Members of the Klondike High School FFA Homesite Evaluation team which captured the state championship this spring were recognized on stage at the Texas FFA Convention held recently in Fort Worth. Members of the team are Tucker Thixton, Kylar Pepper and Brendel O’Brien.
The recent heavy rains and flooding exposed a potentially hazardous leak in a small natural gas pipeline about five miles east of Lamesa, according to Lamesa Fire Chief Larry Duyck.
