Until the COVID-19 outbreak last year, Lamesa High School had an open campus policy which allowed students to leave school grounds to eat lunch elsewhere if they desired.
Lamesa school board members Thursday considered the possibility of returning to an open campus, but only for certain seniors. The plan wouldn’t include a small handful of seniors taking a full class load in order to qualify for graduation in the spring.
“Lunch is a big contention among students, obviously,” said new high school principal James Lewallen.
