TAHOKA – A crowd of approximately 40-50 citizens attended the Tahoka City Council meeting Monday night to express opinions and hear information about a proposed bond election that would fund paving city streets, but also a surprisingly large number of citizens were at the meeting because of concerns about possible changes to a city ordinance regarding livestock animals and/or farm equipment inside the city limits.
SNYDER – The owners of the former Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) property and building can finally begin moving ahead with their planned improvements and open an event center after the Snyder City Council approved the second and final reading of the ordinance changing the zoning of the tract.
BROWNFIELD – After 41 years of teaching, Eddie Nicholson, affectionately known as Mr. Nic, retired from the Brownfield Independent School District (BISD) at the end of the school year. Unfortunately, his retirement during the COVID-19 pandemic did not allow him to receive a proper send-off, but members from the community decided to surprise him with a drive-by send-off Saturday morning.
SEMINOLE – At Monday night’s Seminole Independent School District (SISD) board meeting, members voted unanimously to approve the sale of $8.5 million in unlimited tax school building bonds, Series 2021, and purchase two new coaches to add to the district’s current fleet. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Suarez also gave a detailed academic performance report.
ANDREWS – The city council on Thursday awarded the first of three bids involved with a more than $9 million project to update and improve water transmission from the city’s Florey wellfield.
