Tuesday girls basketball season opener at Ackerly between the Sands Mustangs and visiting New Deal Lions featured a match up of two squads picked to win their hoop districts this winter.

It’s been a highly successful season for area six-man football teams, with four of them now preparing for high school football’s second season – the playoffs.
