Kenneth Thurmond, Sr.

    Kenneth Thurmond, Sr., 79, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Brookdale Monterey Assisted Living in Lubbock.  
    Kenneth was born on September 14, 1941 in Lamesa, Texas to Hilliard Thurmond and Inez Richards Thurmond.  He married Linda Miller on March 17, 1960, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage this year.  
    They lived and farmed southeast of Lamesa for over 40 years.  They loved to fish and competed for several years in Couples Bass Tournaments.  Upon retirement, they moved to Lake Belton and resided there for 9 years.  As Kenneth’s health began to decline, they moved back to West Texas and settled in Tahoka.  
    Kenneth is survived by his wife, Linda Thurmond of Tahoka; 3 children, Kenneth Thurmond, Jr. and wife, Redempta, of Lamesa, Grant Thurmond and wife, Donna, of Lubbock, Tami Thurmond of Plugerville; 3 grandchildren, Breck Thurmond and wife, Victoria, of Lubbock, Brant Thurmond of Breckenridge, and Brittany Thurmond of Lubbock, 2 great grandchildren, Kennedy and Maliyah, with another on the way; brother, H.W. Thurmond and wife, Velma, of Moody; and numerous nephews and nieces.  
    He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Ramona Thurmond.
