The Sands Mustangs got denied one gold ball by Klondike in last week’s Division II District 4-A six-man football championship game, but they didn’t have to wait long to get one.
When the Klondike Cougars kick it off 6 p.m. Friday, they’ll be doing so with a score to settle. They will be taking on Motley County at Muleshoe in the area round of the Division II state sixman football playoffs Back on December 2, 2021, the Klondike Cougars found themselves within striking distance of playing for state at AT&T Stadium. Motley County stopped the Cougars’ playoff march that fall in the state semi-finals knocking off Klondike, 66-20. Klondike finished that season at, 12-2, with its only other loss that year back in the sixth week of that season when Whitharral, 48-19.
Although his Eagles fell just short in the final outcome, O’Donnell High School’s new head boys basketball coach Dax Allen was long from being totally disappointed.
