The Golden Tornadoes’ baseball squad is still seeking its first win of this season but after listening to Coach Bobby Alvarez late this week one’s got to feel like they’re getting considerably closer.
Lamesa’s Bill Weaver Youth Sports Complex will be hopping this weekend as the ‘Show-Me-What-You- Got’ youth girls’ softball tournament will be bringing in young talent from all over West Texas and parts of New Mexico.
Junior Makayla Gonzales and sophomore Jocelyn Marroquin will be representing the Golden Tornadoes next Saturday in the regional power lifting championships at Monahans.

The Golden Tornado Band participated in the Region 16 solo and ensemble contest on Feb. 22. The following are the results: Earle of Oxford Marche (brass), 1st division; Earle of Oxford Marche (brass) 1st Division; Ronde des Princesses (Clarinet choir), 1st division; and Concerto Grosso (oboe solo), 1st division.
