Three classes of elementary, middle and high school students pose with their newly published books. Students collaborated with their classmates to write, edit and illustrate their books for publication. Their efforts paid off when the soft-cover books arrived last week.
It’s not every day that a writer produces a book. It’s also not very often that three classes of students become published authors at such young ages.

Lights of Love board members packed up Christmas toys, winter clothing and bicycles last week for local needy children and their families. The number of children and families receiving gifts, stocking stuffers and food vouchers increased within the past week. When volunteers began their donation drive earlier this month, 44 families and 117 children signed up for the program. Those numbers increased to 132 youngsters and 50 families when the Christmas donations were finally distributed Wednesday morning.
