ANDREWS – Though Andrews County was already off the hook with debt involved from a unique 2009 bond election to finance Waste Control Specialists’ low-level disposal landfill, it was still good to hear the remaining note was paid in full earlier this month, according to county officials.

SEMINOLE – “We put out the best budget we could this year, under the circumstances,” County Auditor Esmerelda Felan told the Gaines County Commissioners Court as it met in regular session Wednesday at the Gaines County Courthouse.

Lamesa fi refi ghter Jerry Cagle uses a hydraulic rescue tool to get the driver’s side doors open on this pickup which was involved in collision Tuesday evening at the intersection of Highways 87 and 349 just south of Lamesa. The driver and lone occupant of the pickup reportedly suffered very serious injuries and was expected to be transported to Lubbock af-ter leaving the scene in a Medical Arts Hospital ambulance. Initial information at the scene indicates a tractor-trailer rig was headed south on Highway 87 and struck the back of the Ford F-150 pickup, which then struck a four-door Audi Q7 passenger car.

The Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce has named the Boys and Girls Club of America as its Business of the Month for August.
