Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there haven’t been any youth sports of any kind in Lamesa and across most of the country since the middle of March.
SEMINOLE – At its first meeting of May on Monday evening, the board of directors of the Seminole Memorial Hospital District announced two valuable new services to the hospital’s arsenal. New CT Scans and mammography machines are now being pressed into service at the facility.
Angelo State University has conferred 571 undergraduate degrees and 298 graduate degrees to its spring 2020 graduates, including four from Lamesa.
Claiborne’s Thriftway has had large scrolls painted on their front windows and is inviting this year’s graduates from Lamesa and area high schools to come by and sign their names on the scrolls. Graduates should go inside to the service desk to obtain a marker to be used for that purpose.
Several students from Lamesa and the surrounding area have been included on either the President’s List or Dean’s Lists for the 2020 Spring semester at South Plains College (SPC).
The lobby and dine-in remain closed until further notice. We continue offering curb side meal service on the south side of the building starting at 11 am and until 12:15 for seniors 60 and over. We will continue delivering home delivered meals to our existing clients.
Restrictions on water usage remain in place here as work is now focusing on getting water flowing again through the main pipeline serving Lamesa.
Fighting not only the flames but the effects of wind and scorching heat, local firefighters couldn’t keep a blaze from taking a house to the ground at the edge of Lamesa Tuesday afternoon.
Although Dawson County continues to have one of the highest COVID-19 case counts in the immediate area, it still represents only a fraction of a percent of the local population.
