Two Lamesa High School young ladies flexed their muscles against the best this past Saturday in the Region I Division II Regional Powerlifting Championships at Monahans. Juniors Jocelyn Marroquin and Makayla Gonzales both qualified for the regional competition by finishing among the Top 12 in their weight classes during the regular season. Marroquin brought home a medal from the regional meet by finishing fourth in the 105-pound weight class. Marroquin squatted 200 pounds, bench pressed 105 pounds and dead lifted 230 pounds for a total of 535 pounds. Marroquin actually tied for third but placed fourth after the tie breaker.
