Last week the Lamesa High School girls opened district play against a Level-land squad ranked number one in the state in Class 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
The situation was just as tough on Tuesday when they made the 2 1/2-hour drive to play second-ranked Canyon.
Committing 14 turnovers while scoring just four points in the first half, the Golden Tornadoes fell by a final score of 80-24.
“From the get-go we came out sluggish,” Lamesa Coach Shai Young said. “The intensity and effort was not where we needed it to be.”
