There’s a good chance the Golden Tornadoes will open softball season without their returning all-state pitcher Laila Vasquez on the field.The Golden Tors begin play against Monahans on Feb. 14 – the same weekend the girls basketball playoffs getunderway. Vasquezis one of the top scorers on Lamesa’s girls basketball team which is contending for one of District 3-3A’s four playoff spots.The Golden Tors will compete in its first of two scrimmages starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Snyder.
