The Sands Mustang girls basketball team took their first step toward a return to the state tournament by beating Morton, 86-24, in bi-district action Monday at Tahoka.“We’re always glad to get that first round behind us,” Sands Coach Ben Connell said. “We scored 27 points in that first quarter and the girls did a great job of taking it from there.”The Mustangs were up 5011 at the half and outscored the Indians, 35-13, in the final two quarters.Connell said focus has to be a huge key if his Mustang girls are going to get back to the state tournament.“We know ...
