Ranked first in the state in Class 1A, the Sands Mustang girls basketball team will have to wait a few more days before starting their bid for a third straight District 8-1A championship.The Mustangs were scheduled to open district Friday night at Garden City but the game was postponed until later in the season after a Garden City boy was killed in a one vehicle tragic accident Wednesday.Sands Coach Ben Connell called the accident a tragedy.District 8-1A girls basketball includes three teams which are ranked in the state’s Top 20, with Borden County fourth and Klondike 18th.“Both Borden County and ...
