Sands’ state-ranked girls basketball team came from behind to avoid an upset by O’Donnell in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday evening in Seminole.
The hard-fought 45-41 win gave the Lady ‘Stangs their first playoff victory in a decade, according to head coach Ben Connell.
“I couldn’t be more proud of this team,” Connell said shortly after the game. “They are hard-working kids and showed a lot of effort tonight.”
Sands, the second-place team from District 8-1A, held a 13-8 lead over the Lady Eagles at the end of the first quarter.
