The Sands Mustangs girls were crowned as the District 8-1A basketball champions Tuesday night at Gail. Later that evening the Borden County’s boys took a big step toward winning their own district title. Coach Ben Connell’s Mustang girls needed a big second half before holding off Borden County, 56-50, for a win which clinched Sands’ return to the 8-1A throne room. Sands is now 20-2 on the year and 8-0 in district going into the final two games of the regular season.
