After finishing among Region Top 10 golfers as a high school freshman, Sands’ Lakyn Sandlin couldn’t help but think she’d get to state in that sport someday.
Without COVID-19, there’s a good chance that Sandlin would have made it to state as a sophomore last year. Instead, the season was canceled.
But now she is heading to state her junior year as one of the region’s top medalists.
“It’s been a long couple of years but it might have ended up helping me out in a way, since it seems like I played nearly every day last summer,” Sandlin said.
