After strong performances at Tuesday’s Region I-IA Cross Country Championships at Lubbock’s Mae Simmons Park, both the Sands Mustangs and O’Donnell Eagles are sending athletes to the upcoming UIL Class 1A State Cross Country Championships at Round Rock.Sands’ junior Carlos Plata got the bronze at Tuesday’s regional meet, the third fastest boy in this region, by finishing that three-mile course in 17:26.9.Plata has now qualified for state in each of his first three years in high school.The Mustangs are also sending two girls to state, after senior Hayley Connell finished sixth and junior Sophia Haston finished ninth out of the ...
