Friday’s District 7-1A girls basketball game at Ackerly looked on paper like it would be a good one. Both Sands and Borden County’s girls are ranked among Class 1A’s Top 20. The game lived up to its hype, as seventh-ranked Sands needed a late rally to hold off 20th-ranked Borden County, 35-19. “This had to be good for the fans. Both teams played hard tonight. Both teams played good defense,” Sands Coach Ben Connell said. “We played real good defense again tonight.
