Seven years ago Shelby McCullough was playing on a Smyer Lady Cat basketball team which finished its season at the state high school girls basketball tournament in at San Antonio. “We were the Class 1A state runners-ups that year after losing to Martin’s Mill in a very close final game. We were actually up late in that game before getting beat in the final few seconds,” McCullough recalled.
