Sands’ Elysa Martinez was definitely one of those rare student athletes who has been recognized for her talents both on and off the playing field.Martinez, the MVP on Sands’ 2021-2022 Class 1A girls state basketball championship team, has been named to the TABC’s Class 1A academic all-state team.Martinez, who’ll be heading to Howard College starting this fall on a basketball scholarship, has made three all-state squads in the past month.In addition to TABC’s allstate squad Martinez also earned all-state from both the Texas Girls Coaches Association as well as the Texas Six-Man Coaches Association.Martinez has been named to the Texas ...
