A nail-biter between the Sands and Klondike boys basketball teams went down to the very last second on Tuesday evening.
Actually, it went down to the last half-second.
Sands’ Jayden Wigington sank two free throws with just 0.48 of a second showing on the clock to give the Mustangs a 48-47 win at Klondike.
“It was amazing to win like that,” Sands Coach Billy Grumbles said afterward.
Almost as amazing was the fact that Sands sank 11 three-pointers during the game, compared to only four two-point buckets.
“That’s the most (three-pointers) we’ve had all season,” Grumbles said.
