As good as the Sands’ Lady ‘Stangs were a year ago on the high school hardwoods there’s a chance that they might be even better this coming winter. The Sands girls went 7-0 to win small-school division of the Texas Basketball Championships held this past weekend at Grapevine. Sands won their first four games in pool play beating Tolar, 41-24, Collinsville, 92-20, Nocona, 43-34 and Whitesboro, 57-23, to advance to Saturday’s regular tournament bracket.
