Growing up just outside Chicago, Ill., Niatha Cullen can remember a story when she was started preparing for college.
“Basically, my dad drew a little circle on the map one day around where we lived and told me that if I went somewhere to college inside that circle that he’d pay for it but if I didn’t it was going to be up to me,” Cullen recalled.
“I knew right then that I was going to have to get a scholarship somewhere.”
She did just that and now she’s getting her first official job far outside that circle as well.
