The Dawson Dragons came up short in their District 7-1A basketball opener Tuesday night at Welch, fallin to the Loop Longhorns, 38-28.
“We’re still proud of how our guys competed again tonight. We outscored them there in the fourth quarter,” Dawson Coach Layne Sheets said.
“Our guys just keep on fighting just like they have all year.”
The 3-11 Dragons were down 25-11 at the half.
Angel Ramirez’s 14 points led the Dragons while Sam Penner had nine points, Donovan Moreno had four and Cameron Montoya had one. The Dragons suited up only five players.
