Saturday’s area playoff contest started out looking like most other football games the Borden County Coyotes have played the past few years.
The two-time defending state champions scored on their second play from scrimmage to take an early lead against Garden City, a team the Coyotes had knocked out of the playoffs the past two seasons.
That opening touchdown, however, turned out to be one of only two the Coyotes would score during the entire game at Colorado City.
This time it was Garden City knocking Borden County out of the playoffs with an impressive 60-14 victory.
