The Klondike Cougars needed a late rally before taking a successful first step in the Class 1A boys basketball playoffs Monday evening.
Coach Chad Myers’ Cougars found themselves behind at the end of every quarter except the one which counts the most, as they came from behind in for a 57-52 victory over Wellman-Union at Post.
“Outside of the last five minutes we were losing,” Myers said.
Klondike, now 17-9 on the year, trailed 15-11 at the end of the first quarter and 27-23 at the half. The Cougars cut Wellman-Union’s lead to 39-37 at the end of the third quarter.
