Lamesa High School’s softball team may have come home with a loss in their rematch with Canyon but they nevertheless have nailed down the runnerup spot in District 3-4A.
The Golden Tornadoes just could not get the hits they needed in an 8-5 loss against Canyon, according to Coach Vanessa Hernandez.
“We played well, we fought well, but we had seven strikeouts as a team,” Coach Hernandez said after the game.
“We just needed to hit well, and we didn’t,” she added. “That was the determining factor.”
The win secured the district title for Canyon, which now sports a 7-0 record in league play.
