Starting Friday night Lamesa will be hosting a pair of Cal Ripkin baseball district tournaments at the Bill Weaver Youth Sports Complex. “The closer that we get the more excited we all seem to get about it,” Lamesa 12-and-under all-star head coach Eric Garcia said. “We keep seeing support from different people here in our community when it comes to getting things for our kids like new helmets and new batting gloves. “Now it’s getting time for us to do our part.” Lamesa’s 12-and-under all-stars will open play in the five-day tournament by taking on Andrews at 8 p.m. Friday.
