It had been a four years since the Golden Tornado basketball boys last won a playoff game.
All that changed this past Saturday when a last-second shot helped the Lamesa boys defeat the Presidio Blue Devils, 66-65, in Class 3A bi-district hoop action at Monahans.
The Tors were less than a second away from seeing their season end when freshmen Pedro Barrioz knocked down a game-winning threepointer with 0.5 seconds remaining on the game clock.
With a 17-6 record, the Golden Tornadoes are now preparing for the area round where they’ll face stateranked Shallowater at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lubbock Monterey.
