The rainy, stormy skies in Belton on Friday morning turned to a beautiful afternoon, as the Gail Borden County Lady Coyotes and Chireno Owls did battle in the Texas UIL Class 1A State Semifinal at Dee Dillon Field. Borden came from three runs down in the third inning and led 8-5 with one out in the top of the seventh inning when Chireno (15-9) scored nine runs off of eight hits and two errors to punch their ticket to 1A State Finals on Saturday with a 14-8 win over the Lady Coyotes. “I guess we were due one of those bad innings.
