A strong start helped the Golden Tornadoes’ eighth grade A football team hold off Midland Christian, 33-12, here Thursday evening.
“Both teams came out fast and hard. We both scored on our first possessions,” Lamesa Coach Bobby Alvarez said. “We had a big night with our ground game with five rushing touchdowns.
“Defensively, we only gave up two touchdowns and created three turnovers.”
The Golden Tors’ defense picked off one Midland Christian pass and scooped up two MC fumbles.
“We’re very proud of this team. We’ll continue to grow and get better,” Coach Alvarez said.
