With 13 players having graduated from last year’s team, many people would expect this to be a challenging rebuilding year for the Lamesa Golden Tornado baseball team.
Coach Bobby Alvarez, however, says the Golden Tornadoes simply will be reloading.
“It’s going to be a challenge, but it’s going to be a fun challenge,” Alvarez said on Tuesday. “These young guys are pretty talented and they’re athletic.”
The Golden Tornadoes will get their season kicked off this coming Saturday with a three-way scrimmage on the new artificial turf at Spikes Field.
“I’m excited,” Alvarez said about the coming season.
