When Dustin Wall first become Sands High School’s head cross country coach some 12 years ago he had a feeling that he was on the verge of something special.
“Those first couple of years were ‘ all about building. A lot of this sport’s about finding kids who’ll work hard and just being consistent,” Wall said.
High expectations are one thing but there’s no way even this eternal optimist could picture how it would turn out. Since 2014, the Mustangs have been represented each year by at least one of their runners at the state high school meet.
