After leading the Sands Mustangs to their first-ever state basketball championships, the trio of seniors Landry Morrow and Lili Porras and junior Elysa Martinez were named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Class 1A All-State Basketball Team.“By winning it all, all three proved themselves as being among the best players in the state,” Sands Coach Ben Connell said. “I would have been disappointed if all three weren’t on there.”Connell always pointed to teamwork as one of the driving forces for the Mustangs this past season.“We didn’t have anybody score over 20 points per game.
