The beginning of another high school boys basketball season will be even more significant at Welch than most other places.
This season will be the Dragons’ first to field a boys basketball team in a couple of years. The last time they played, the Dragons had a co-ed team due to a shortage of players.
The Dragons will open up the season with only a six-player roster, a definite challenge in the eyes of head coach Layne Sheets, who’s also the school’s superintendent.
