Tuesday night was an exciting one for Sands High School hoop fans as both the Mustangs’ girls and boys basketball squads pulled off victories.
Sands’ state-ranked girls are now off to a 3-0 start after blowing out Sterling City, 57-21. After leading 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, Sands started pulling away by outscoring Sterling City 20-3 in the second period.
“We finally started hitting. We also played very good defense in that second quarter which kind of pulled us away,” Connell said.
The Mustang girls outscored the Eagles, 26-10, in the final two quarters.
