Local high school barbecuing teams returned last weekend from the state championship in Llano with more than just new recipes.
Three Lamesa High School (LHS), two O’Donnell High School and two Sands High School barbecue teams brought home honors after competing in five divisions: ribs, chicken, brisket, beans and dessert.
The teams competed against 54 other high school barbecue teams for the state championship April 23-24
To qualify for the state level, teams had to have placed in the top 10 in one of the 10 regional contests held throughout Texas.
