The Sands school system at Ackerly does things a little differently than most schools celebrating homecoming. Every four years, Sands celebrations are true homecomings with a bonfire, the return of former students, and a welcome-back banquet in the auditorium. “To put it into Lamesa terms, it’s a Jubilee. It’s like an all-school reunion,” said Tana Howard, Sands school counselor.
