A truck driver with Firehouse Trucking in Dumas was found dead in the sleeper of his parked tractor-trailer this past Thursday evening in the eastern part of Lamesa.
“Officers do not believe foul play was involved,” Lieutenant Darrell Williams with the Criminal Investigation Division of Lamesa Police Department told the Press-Reporter on Friday afternoon.
An autopsy was performed on Friday morning in Lubbock.
Justice of the Peace Larry Duyck, who pronounced the driver – Ralph Galan Chavez, 54, of Dumas – dead at the scene at 7:05 p.m., said it was obvious Chavez had been dead prior to that time.
