After writing off $20,000-$30,000 in bad debt every year, the City of Lamesa hopes to be able to cut down that amount with a new law firm hired to collect delinquent accounts receivable.
City Council members approved two separate three-year contracts with MVBA (McCreary, Veselka, Bragg and Allen, LLC) for the collection of those delinquent accounts for the city and the collection of Municipal Court fines and fees.
Those contracts were approved during a special called council meeting held on Tuesday evening after the regularly scheduled meeting last week had to be canceled due to a lack of a quorum.
