Dawson County currently has no active cases of COVID-19.
That is the news posted for the past two by Zach Holbrooks, executive director of the five-county South Plains Public Health District.
It is the first time Dawson County has been without an active case of the virus since late June of last year – 10 months ago.
“That’s fantastic,” Lamesa Mayor Josh Stevens said after hearing the news Tuesday morning. “I’m very excited about that.”
Although having zero cases likely is temporary, Stevens said it is definitely good news after more than a year since the first COVID case here was reported.
