More than two months after he participated in the 80th anniversary of the DDay invation in France and exactly five months shy of his 103rd birthday on Jan. 27, 2025, former World War II pilot Charles Baldwin passed away peacefully at his home at 1:05 p.m., Aug. 27 in Granbury.The last thing he heard was his favorite poem, “ High Flight” by John Gillespie Magee, Jr., being read to him by his nine-year-old great-granddaughter, Charley May.
