A tanker truck that overturned in the rain at the southeastern edge of Lamesa on Friday spilled only a small amount of hydraulic oil, according to Lamesa Fire Chief Larry Duyck.
The accident, however, caused northbound traffic on busy Highway 87 to be detoured for about five hours and kept firefighters and others at the scene until the truck could be lifted upright.
Duyck said the driver of the truck was uninjured when the vehicle toppled onto its side at the south intersection of Dallas and Lynn avenues.
