Some early estimates are indicating at much of half of the young cotton crop in Dawson County may have been destroyed as a result of Saturday’s severe storm and subsequent flooding.
Gary Roschetzky, however, is hoping the damage eventually proves to be much less severe and widespread.
“It will probably be a week or more before we really know,” said Roschetzky, AgriLife Extension Agent - Agriculture in Dawson County.
He said Tuesday evening that the weather in the coming days could make a big difference in the status of the crop.
