When the annual rodeo opens next month it will include the crownding of a new Lamesa Rodeo Queen. Three contestants are vying for the title by selling $8 tickets to the rodeo. The ticket price jumps to $10 at the gate. The Lamesa Rodeo Association’s rodeo runs Aug. 5-7 at the rodeo grounds southwest of Forrest Park on South Houston Avenue. One of the three – Audrey McElwee, 12, Trea Peterson, 17; or Rozalyn Rodriquez, 7 – will get to wear the crown and title.
